Reducing HIV/AIDS infections among young women in sub-Saharan Africa

The U.S. State Department’s PEPFAR DREAMS partnership is working to reduce HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women in sub-Saharan Africa, where AIDS remains the leading cause of death among young women. In Kenya, the program partnered with Premise and used the Premise app to help improve HIV treatment adherence among HIV-positive young women.

Premise worked with local health clinics to engage young women through the app and provide clinics with real-time data visualizations and analytics dashboards. The effort reached 33 health clinics across three counties in western Kenya, with 550+ HIV-positive young women submitting 80,000 treatment reports through the Premise app.
