Case Study: V&A brings Alice in Wonderland to life in VR with Preloaded

A Preloaded Case Study

V&A launches 4-minute VR Wonderland and 2-home chapters with Preloaded

The V&A Museum wanted to extend its "Alice: Curiouser & Curiouser" exhibition into virtual reality to celebrate the story's tradition of innovation. They partnered with Preloaded and HTC Vive Arts to create a VR experience that would be accessible to a broad gallery audience.

Preloaded developed "Curious Alice," a VR experience that transformed 2D Victorian-inspired illustrations into an explorable 3D world. Using hand-tracking technology for natural interaction, the solution was designed to be instantly understandable and avoid motion sickness for new users. Preloaded also expanded the experience for a remote audience by creating an at-home version with additional chapters. The project was recognized with several awards, successfully connecting both gallery and dispersed global audiences to the V&A's exhibition through immersive storytelling.
