Clearcover accelerates self-service data workflows with Prefect’s Dask-powered orchestration

Clearcover, a modern online insurance company, needed a more accessible workflow orchestration tool to enable its data analysts and engineers to build and manage data pipelines at scale. Their previous solution using AWS Step Functions and ECS Fargate created a high barrier to entry due to its technical complexity. They turned to Prefect to find a centralized, pythonic platform that could serve their entire data division.

Prefect provided the solution with its object-based design in Prefect Core, which allowed Clearcover's team to build a custom CI/CD process for self-service flow deployment. They leveraged Prefect's flexibility to create specialized integrations like a FargateAgent and a DbtShellTask, and used Prefect Cloud for scheduling and monitoring. The result was an accelerated, self-serve data platform that empowered analysts to orchestrate their own workflows and quickly generate business insights without direct engineering help, while also enabling easy parallelism with Dask.
