Using Allscripts Enterprise AnalyticsTM to Improve Patient Quality Scores

HealthEast Care System, an integrated healthcare system in St. Paul, Minnesota, wanted to become a benchmark for quality and improve patient outcomes beyond basic reporting. Working with PrecisionBI, HealthEast looked for a better way to track preventive care, disease management, and patient-specific quality measures at the individual level, rather than relying on manual claims-based reporting and limited outcome visibility.

PrecisionBI’s Allscripts Enterprise Analytics was added to HealthEast’s Allscripts Enterprise EHR environment to generate customizable reports from enrollee and claims data, helping clinicians identify patients due for tests like A1c, mammograms, and colonoscopies and proactively reach out to them. The result was improved quality scores, stronger reporting for Minnesota Community Measurement and pay-for-performance programs, 400,000 fewer physician workflow tasks, and higher clinician and patient satisfaction, with HealthEast ranking third in Minnesota for quality in 2011.
