A Practice Case Study
Drexel University College of Nursing & Health Professions faced a capacity and assessment problem: its simulation lab only accommodated 6–7 students at a time while the program served thousands, making it hard to give students adequate hands‑on time, compare responses, and complete timely debriefs. Online and blended programs compounded the challenge, relying on passive tools (read/quiz) that did not build the communication and teamwork skills essential for nursing.
Drexel adopted Practice’s lightweight video‑simulation platform to scale simulation across courses and engage online learners with interactive scenarios that support teamwork and allow consistent assessment. The platform let faculty include multiple simulations per course and reach many more students—over 1,500 students completed 4,014 simulation exercises in 2014—while giving instructors better insight into student performance and enabling more targeted teaching.
