PCA Streamlines Ecolab’s Global Product Labeling System — Big Cost Savings, Improved Consistency and Availability

Ecolab, a global company managing thousands of product SKUs across 52 regions, was struggling with a cumbersome labeling process that relied on separate MS Access databases, manual updates, and fragmented spreadsheets. Practical Computer Applications (PCA) was brought in to help solve the growing complexity, errors, delays, and rising labor costs tied to maintaining regional-specific product labeling data.

Practical Computer Applications recommended migrating the MS Access datastore to SQL Server and giving regional managers Internet access to a single centralized MS Access system via Citrix. The new solution was implemented in nine weeks, supported 60,000+ records and 400+ users, eliminated the need to distribute and reconcile 52 separate databases, and freed up two full-time employees. Ecolab also reported improved consistency, compliance, faster updates, and about 2 FTE/year in operational cost savings.
