A Practical Computer Applications Case Study
Management Sciences for Health (MSH), an international nonprofit with more than 2,000 employees across 33 countries, needed a better way to manage its annual federal compliance and employee certification process. Its existing email, Excel, fax, postal mail, and paper-based workflow was slow, labor-intensive, error-prone, and created significant audit risk. MSH worked with Practical Computer Applications (PCA) to replace the manual process with a custom compliance certification system.
Practical Computer Applications (PCA) implemented “Certification Central,” a web-based and smart client solution built on Microsoft SQL Server, .NET, ASP.NET, and SSRS, with multilingual support and integration to MSH’s ePath training system. The new system streamlined certification tracking, improved manager visibility, automated notifications and reporting, and supported employees without regular PC access. As a result, MSH increased employee compliance from 70% to 100%, eliminated audit risk, and substantially lowered costs through faster, more accurate, and more centralized compliance management.
