Franklin Park, an investment advisory firm focused on private financial markets, needed a better way to deliver investment documents to clients and perform complex Internal Rate of Return (IRR) calculations. Their existing in-house MS Access/SQL system was effective internally, but they lacked secure web access for clients and had struggled with outside firms to build an accurate, flexible IRR algorithm. Practical Computer Applications (PCA) was brought in to extend their existing systems with Internet-enabled capabilities.

Practical Computer Applications implemented the IRR calculation in Franklin Park’s SQL Server database, then built a secure ASP.NET web portal for client document access, and finally enhanced the IRR engine for on-demand client analytics with dynamic parameters and Excel export. The result was a streamlined client experience, improved satisfaction and retention, and significantly reduced operational effort and cost, while also delivering substantial savings versus commercial software and standardizing IRR calculations.
