Video Storytelling Enhances Innovative Research Intervention at The Boston University Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation

Boston University Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation, part of Boston University, needed a way to build a complex psychoeducational research intervention with a video component across 28 sessions. To support this effort, the team chose PowToon for its ease of use and accessibility as a video storytelling and animation platform.

Using PowToon, the research team created 28 discrete educational videos over 12 months, totaling about 90 minutes of animated content with 41 scenes and 41 characters. The videos combined storytelling, voice-over, animation, and audio effects, helping participants better reflect on difficult workplace situations and enabling clinicians to discuss solutions more effectively; feedback has been very positive, and the center expects to use PowToon again for future projects.
