A PowerSchool Case Study
PowerSchool Learning partnered with Winston‑Salem/Forsyth County Schools (WS/FCS), the fourth-largest district in North Carolina serving 53,000 students, to solve a key challenge: find a learning management system that enables teacher collaboration and content sharing, integrates with Google Apps for Education, and is intuitive enough for all staff regardless of technical experience. The district piloted the platform as an optional initiative across its 81 schools in summer 2015.
WS/FCS chose PowerSchool Learning over other options because it best matched their objectives and was easiest to learn, leading to rapid adoption—over 1,400 classes in the first 10 days and more than 3,000 active classes with nearly 15,000 unique users after two months. Departments used the system beyond instruction (payroll forms, testing plans, meetings), and success was driven by summer training for instructional leaders, strong administrative buy‑in, and plans for ongoing training and a school-level ambassador program.
