A PowerSchool Case Study
Olentangy Local Schools, a rapidly expanding K–12 district in suburban Columbus, Ohio (21,679 students, 854 teachers), needed a learning management system to keep pace with enrollment growth and changing instructional needs—particularly to deliver online courses through its Olentangy Teaching Academy (O2A) and support flipped-classroom models. The district required a platform that students and teachers could adopt quickly with minimal professional development.
They chose Schoology for its familiar, social-media-like interface, and student use jumped from 500 to 1,600 during evaluation—driving districtwide adoption. Teachers integrated Schoology rapidly with little training, enabling fully online courses, flipped-classroom content delivery, and 24/7 access on any device; the result was higher engagement, faster implementation, and a potential cost-saving alternative to building another high school.
