The Kinkaid School, Houston’s oldest independent coeducational school serving about 1,400 students across Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools, was struggling to find an easy-to-use learning management system after switching platforms three times in five years. Previous systems caused lost data and offered poor collaboration, and Kinkaid needed an intuitive K–12 solution that integrated with Google Apps and their existing SIS to support a blended/virtual learning environment and future 1:1 or BYOD initiatives.

PowerSchool Learning was chosen for its deep Google integration, SIS API connections, and teacher-focused design. The optional rollout quickly gained traction—about 85% of Middle School faculty adopted it—thanks to a simple drag-and-drop interface, embedded apps, robust discussion tools, streamlined grading with rubrics and Dropbox, and single sign-on to Google Drive. The school is expanding use across divisions and adding LTI integrations like Turnitin and EBSCO to further embed resources within the platform.
