A PowerSchool Case Study
Shelby County School District, the 14th largest district in the U.S. serving 120,000 students across 207 schools, faced a broken one-day, paper-based registration process that created long lines, frustrated parents, overwhelmed staff and inaccurate student data—leading to scheduling delays and misallocated resources.
After convening a cross-stakeholder task force, the district implemented PowerSchool Registration, moving enrollment online. The change eliminated printing and overtime costs (about three million pages annually), cut up to two full weeks of staff time, boosted data accuracy from under 20% to about 90% (a >70% improvement), improved funding and staffing projections, and delivered millions of dollars in annual savings while increasing parent convenience and community access.
