A PowerSchool Case Study
Savannah‑Chatham County Public Schools (SCCPSS), which serves more than 35,000 students across 50+ schools in coastal Georgia, was struggling with a paper‑based, site‑by‑site Pre‑K enrollment and lottery process that was labor‑intensive, error‑prone and created duplicate seat holds and long lines for families. SCCPSS engaged PowerSchool Registration to replace the manual workflow and address complex lottery rules, reporting requirements and administrative burdens.
PowerSchool delivered a customized online registration and centralized lottery—built, launched and staffed quickly—handling lottery logic, special cases, training for 30 sites, and integration with SCCPSS’s PowerSchool SIS. The system went live on time and on budget, produced 625 first‑day applications and 1,675 total applications for roughly 1,317 seats, eliminated long in‑person lines, improved transparency and reporting, and earned positive feedback from parents, district staff and state officials.
