A PowerSchool Case Study
P.S. 153 Adam Clayton Powell Elementary School in Harlem (NYC DOE) faced a major communication and attendance challenge when COVID-19 forced remote learning: outdated or missing contact information, limited translation and internet access, and family housing instability made it difficult to locate and engage students or provide consistent homework options.
The school deployed Unified Operations Communication (formerly KiNVO) to crowdsource updated contacts, send PDF homework attachments by text, and run wellness check-ins. Message volume per student rose 200%, the school accounted for all students within the first week, and nearly 100% of students were engaged in learning—including families who had temporarily lost contact—while homework distribution and regular communications continued uninterrupted.
