A PowerSchool Case Study
Irving Independent School District, serving more than 24,000 students across 32 schools, faced chronic absenteeism in the 2022–24 school years with attendance about 5% below pre‑COVID levels. The district struggled with manual, time‑consuming workflows, heavy demands on attendance clerks, large truancy paperwork backlogs, and the need to communicate with many families in multiple languages.
Irving ISD implemented PowerSchool Attendance Intervention (with eSchoolPlus SIS) to automate workflows and enable active two‑way, multilingual communication. Within six weeks attendance rose to about 96% (district‑wide reporting around 95%), attendance clerks reduced outreach to roughly 15 minutes per day, other communication tools were phased out, and the district recovered funding and staff time previously lost to absenteeism.
