A PowerSchool Case Study
Northern Valley Regional High School District (NVRHS) in Bergen County, NJ, serves about 2,600 students across two high schools and was planning a 1:1 device rollout for 2014. Before buying devices, the district needed a simple, flexible learning management system that would give teachers time and tools to build virtual classrooms, support diverse instructional approaches, and help meet new state standards like PARCC and Common Core.
After a teacher-led selection process, NVRHS adopted PowerSchool Learning for its ease of use and pedagogical flexibility. A phased rollout led to rapid district-wide adoption and a full 1:1 MacBook Air deployment; teachers report better accessibility for Special Ed students, easier substitute coverage, higher student engagement through multimedia WikiProjects and adaptive assessments, and streamlined administration via PowerSchool SIS integration and grade sync.
