How Putnam County School System Strategically Prepares Students for Their Futures with PowerSchool Naviance CCLR

Putnam County School System, a rural district in middle Tennessee serving nearly 12,000 students across 22 schools, faced new state mandates for middle school career exploration but had no cohesive 6–12 future-readiness curriculum. Teachers and students weren’t using the prior CCLR tool and CTE programming operated in silos, making it difficult to meet requirements, deliver consistent instruction, and track student progress.

PCSS implemented PowerSchool Naviance CCLR, rolling it out in middle school with a nine-week career exploration course, built-in interest assessments, and a pre-built digital curriculum that centralized data and saved teacher time. The district reported stronger staff buy-in, higher student engagement and early career awareness, equitable delivery across cohorts, useful reporting for program planning, and plans to expand the tool into high school advisement.
