A PowerSchool Case Study
DeSoto County Schools, the largest district in Mississippi with about 34,000 students, faced a costly, paper-based annual registration that required roughly 15 pages per student—more than 500,000 sheets—creating heavy printing and administrative costs, slow manual data entry, frequent errors, late registrations, and poor access to accurate student information.
The district implemented PowerSchool Registration, moving enrollment online; in year one 75% of students were registered by the first day and nearly 100% of key data was captured within a month. The change saved an estimated $262,113 annually and eliminated over 500,000 sheets of paper, cut parents’ time spent on forms by up to 80%, dramatically reduced staff workload, and delivered faster, more accurate student data (including bilingual support and onsite help for families).
