A PowerSchool Case Study
Torrington Public Schools, a Connecticut district serving nearly 4,800 students with just four full‑time technology staff, was burdened by aging on‑premises servers and a student information system (SIS) it couldn’t keep current. The district’s small IT team struggled with updates, maintenance, licensing and security, which led to failed state reporting and delayed funding from the Connecticut State Department of Education.
After a cost analysis, Torrington moved its SIS and student registration to PowerSchool Cloud Hosting. The district realized an 83% projected five‑year savings (about $366,000), restored accurate state reporting, gained stronger security and scalability, and freed IT staff to focus on other district technology needs.
