Case Study: Delaware Department of Education achieves a statewide data-driven culture with PowerSchool

A PowerSchool Case Study

Preview of the Delaware Department of Education Case Study

Delaware Department of Education Uses Data to Guide Educational Initiatives

PowerSchool partnered with the Delaware Department of Education to build a unified statewide student information ecosystem for 19 districts, 218 public schools and 21 charters serving roughly 134,000 students. The core challenge was creating a sustained, data-driven culture so educators and policymakers could make timely, evidence-based instructional and policy decisions rather than relying on anecdotes.

Using PowerSchool’s eSchoolPLUS, IEPPLUS and PerformancePLUS hosted in a state private cloud, Delaware rolled data into an Ed-Fi–based longitudinal warehouse and Education Insight dashboards, supported professional learning communities, embedded data coaches, and set a research agenda funded by Race to the Top and other grants. The result: Delaware earned national recognition for effective data use, streamlined data management, policy changes (including new teacher-prep accountability), targeted interventions like a Summer Nudge for college-bound students, expanded early-learning dashboards, and ongoing improvements in teacher coaching and student outcomes.
