Wayland Public Schools’ Path to a Connected SIS

Wayland Public Schools, serving about 2,600 students across six schools near Boston, needed to replace its legacy student information system as interoperability, security, and usability demands grew. The district turned to PowerSchool SIS and approached the migration as a major change-management effort, requiring stakeholder buy-in, data governance, and a better way to connect systems and workflows.

PowerSchool helped Wayland migrate data from the old SIS and set up a connected, interoperable platform with APIs, SFTP, and automated syncs to create a single source of truth. After one semester, the district reported cleaner, more reliable data, faster access to actionable insights, and a more unified experience for teachers and families, with improved attendance outreach and quicker communication across the district.
