How Broward County Uses Data-Driven Teaching to Achieve Academic Success

Broward County Public Schools needed better centralized data to support its academic goals, including third-grade ELA, Algebra, science proficiency, and college and career readiness. Its legacy assessment platform and disconnected tools left principals and teachers without enough actionable information to improve outcomes, especially as the district faced enrollment pressure and a growing need to close achievement gaps.

PowerSchool implemented Performance Matters and PowerSchool Professional Learning, helping Broward County unify assessments, instructional resources, and teacher training in one system. The district now uses data-driven instruction and targeted professional development to adjust teaching, support schools quickly, and evaluate new initiatives; as a result, Broward County is an A-rated district for the second year in a row with no D or F schools, improved instructional practice and VAM ratings, and a reduced number of C-rated schools.
