ActewAGL Automates Reporting for Asset Investment Optimization

ActewAGL, the electricity distribution and transmission utility serving about 174,000 customers in Canberra, needed a systematic, ISO 55001/PAS 55‑aligned approach to generate an integrated Asset Management Plan (AMP). They selected PowerPlan’s Decision Support solution (implemented with reseller gViz) to provide the software platform at the heart of their future asset management system.

PowerPlan worked with ActewAGL to load a comprehensive inventory from GIS, WASP and spreadsheets, model 20 years of lifecycle treatments and costs, train staff, and automate AMP generation. The PowerPlan solution produced a 75‑part, one‑click AMP (over 2,000 pages) delivered on schedule, created a detailed works‑enablement program, provided audit‑ready documentation to support budgets, and materially reduced the effort required to produce future AMPs while improving integration and timeliness.
