A PowerDMS Case Study
The Kentucky League of Cities Insurance Services (KLCIS) set out to reduce law enforcement liability after an in-depth risk analysis showed accredited agencies were significantly less likely to face lawsuits, injuries, and loss. To encourage accreditation under CALEA and the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police (KACP)—which reinforce leadership, training, and policies—KLCIS offers incentives including up to a 10% insurance discount and a Safety Grant of up to $3,000 to help cover accreditation fees.
To streamline accreditation, KACP partnered with PowerDMS in 2017 to adopt a cloud-based, paperless accreditation management system that enables remote file review and simpler compliance tracking. The platform cut file-review time by 40%, helped Kentucky achieve 125 KACP-accredited agencies (placing the state among the top five nationally), and, combined with coordinated training and legal support, strengthened the state’s risk-management outcomes.
