Embracing Medical Fitness Programming at a Municipality-Owned Center

Local Community Hospital originally opened a 78,000 sq. ft. Health & Fitness Center in 2001, but a 2015 proposal to close the Center for ambulatory care threatened its medically integrated programming and the special-needs populations it served. To preserve the asset and ensure continuity of clinical fitness services, the municipality acquired the Center and sought an experienced operator—ultimately selecting Power Wellness to manage operations and protect the Center’s medical fitness mission.

Power Wellness implemented institutional management, HIPAA-compliant technologies with EHR integration, and its prescriptive MyFitRx® program alongside targeted special-population classes. The result: billable membership rose from 3,377 (2017) to 3,931 (2019), a 16% increase, MyFitRx® enrollments grew from 125 to 240 over the same period, and the Center earned the Medical Fitness Association’s 2018 “Facility of the Year” award—demonstrating measurable improvements in utilization and population health under Power Wellness’s management.
