How A Local Government Agency Created A User-friendly Sharepoint Intranet

The Local Government Agency, serving a region of 260,000 residents across 800 km2 and managing IT for 4,000 agents, 3,800 machines and 300 virtual servers, wanted to strengthen its digital offer by building a more communicative, collaborative and user-friendly intranet as part of a Microsoft technology roll-out. To achieve a friendlier front end and simplify SharePoint back-office management and site deployment for other municipalities, the agency selected Powell Software and its Powell Intranet product.

Powell Software implemented Powell Intranet (with an implementation partner), delivering a communication-focused SharePoint front end, deployable site models and an enriched Active Directory with business and HR data to improve identity management. The solution made the intranet easier to roll out across agencies, expanded collaborative digital services and—when COVID-19 struck—gave the agency greater agility and efficiency in crisis management while supporting their thousands of users and infrastructure assets.
