Case Study: Somfy scales prototyping with PostProcess automated post-printing

A PostProcess Case Study

Preview of the Somfy Case Study

Somfy - Customer Case Study

Somfy, a world-leading manufacturer of automated controls for homes and buildings, sought to integrate additive manufacturing for faster prototyping but faced a post-printing bottleneck. Their focus on sustainability and safety made traditional isopropyl alcohol (IPA) for resin removal an unsuitable option due to its environmental and workplace hazards. To overcome this challenge, they partnered with PostProcess Technologies for an automated solution.

PostProcess implemented their DEMI 430 system, which uses proprietary detergent and Submersed Vortex Cavitation technology for resin removal. This solution provided Somfy with high throughput, impeccable consistency, and a safer, more sustainable process. The results included a significant ramp-up in prototyping volume, the ability to run printers at maximum capacity, and substantial savings from a detergent that lasts up to six times longer than IPA, minimizing downtime and operational risks.
