Case Study: Toast achieves 95 minutes saved per engineer per week with Postman

A Postman Case Study

Preview of the Toast Case Study

Toast achieves an improvement to developer productivity of 95 minutes per week for engineers using Postman

Toast, a restaurant software and fintech platform, needed a better way to support its globally distributed engineering teams as it scaled its microservices architecture. Engineers struggled to discover existing functionality, documentation was inconsistent, onboarding new developers and partners was slow, and QA had difficulty testing individual services efficiently. Toast used Postman to help address these API collaboration and discovery challenges.

Toast standardized on Postman workspaces and Collections as a source of truth for APIs across 36 engineering teams, enabling easier discovery, faster onboarding, improved QA testing, and automated request chaining with pre-request and post-request scripts. As a result, Toast reported 95 minutes saved per engineer each week, 70% of engineers said Postman reduced duplicate work, and onboarding became significantly faster for both internal and partner developers.
