Postman helps Code for Baltimore simplify community-driven API development

Code for Baltimore, a volunteer civic tech community and brigade of Code for America, needed a faster way to build and coordinate its emergency response system during the COVID-19 pandemic. To support the city’s Healthcare Rollcall initiative, the team used the Postman API Platform to develop the Bmore Responsive API and manage critical health-status information for Baltimore’s Department of Health.

Using Postman, Code for Baltimore set up a central API repository, shared workspace, documentation, and a Postman Collection to onboard new volunteers and standardize API workflows. The team also used Newman to automate regression testing in CI/CD, helping them move faster with confidence, improve code quality, and support rapid team growth from one developer to ten.
