Case Study: EnergyCap slashes regression testing time and streamlines API collaboration with Postman

EnergyCAP, a long-standing provider of energy management and accounting software, was modernizing its application and moving to a microservices-based architecture, which dramatically increased the number and complexity of APIs to test. Their development team of 12 and QA leads Jared Matthews and Ann Denner needed a collaborative way to write, document, and automate API tests — and turned to Postman (including Postman’s testing suite, Newman CLI, Collections, and Cloud) to meet that need.

Postman was implemented across engineering, QA, support, and project management: Jared built a C# console to auto-run Newman and push results into JIRA, PMs run Newman with Excel data to create customers and bills, and teams share Collections via Postman Cloud. The result: regression testing dropped from a full week to one to two days and can be done by two people instead of seven+, tests that used to need external help are now created in hours and rerun until error-free, and Postman helped unify the 43-person company around their APIs.
