A Postman Case Study
Box, a content-management platform used by more than 97,000 companies including 68% of the Fortune 500, relied on a Postman-hosted API collection to help customers and developers get started with Box APIs. Over time the collection fell out of date after the original maintainers left, hurting onboarding and risking removal, so Box needed a reliable, easy way for users to make their first API call in under 10 minutes and to eliminate manual maintenance overhead.
Postman helped Box rebuild and automate their Postman Collection: Box reorganized the collection, added a Run in Postman button, and built an open-source auto-updater that uses the Postman API Update Collection endpoint plus pre/post-request scripts and environment variables to keep the collection current. Postman automation also enabled scripts to auto-refresh OAuth tokens so sessions no longer drop after one hour. As a result, updates that used to take weeks now take minutes, the Developer Relations team saves significant time, and onboarding friction and support overhead have decreased.
