Teaching Medical Decision Making with Posit Cloud

Harvard Medical School’s Department of Biomedical Informatics needed a way to teach its Data Science for Medical Decision Making course without the burden of managing inconsistent student environments, package versions, cloud instances, and remote access issues. Using Posit Cloud from Posit PBC, instructors wanted a reproducible, code-first setup that would let students focus on analyzing medical data and decision models instead of troubleshooting software.

Posit PBC helped Harvard Medical School move the entire course to Posit Cloud in about a month by copying GitHub repositories into workspaces and using built-in tutorials, shared links, and assignment features. The result was faster student onboarding, easier deployment of projects, and a much lower management overhead for instructors, while giving students a reliable “cluster” experience with no package installation or compute setup required.
