NOAA Fisheries, responsible for managing over 90 species of groundfish, faced the challenge of securely sharing confidential economic and social fisheries data with diverse stakeholders. Handling these data requests manually was time-consuming and impractical. They partnered with Posit PBC to find a solution using their products.

Using Posit's R, Shiny, and Posit Connect, NOAA Fisheries built the FISHEyE platform. This solution allowed scientists to create a secure, self-service web application that provides stakeholders with tailored data visualizations while protecting confidentiality. The result empowered fishermen, researchers, and others with immediate access to information, enabling them to analyze trends and compare performance, all while meeting federal data access mandates efficiently.
