Case Study: Janssen achieves faster R and Shiny analytics with Posit Connect and RStudio Server

Janssen’s R Service for Visualization and Processing

Janssen, part of Johnson & Johnson, needed a way for scientists to more easily share R code and Shiny applications, collaborate across teams, and run larger analyses without being limited by single-node RStudio Server and Shiny setups. The company turned to Posit for RStudio Server and Posit Connect to support its R-based visualization, analysis, and batch processing needs.

Posit helped Janssen’s Emerging Technologies team build RSVP, a scalable R service for visualization and processing on AWS that uses a clustered environment with a master node, personal nodes, and burstable compute for parallel workloads. With Posit, Janssen was able to reduce one Alzheimer’s analysis from 2.5 days to about 5 hours, and cut the time to spin up RStudio and update an application from days to a half-day.
