Lix, a study platform for college students, needed to run stateful services (Cassandra, Postgres, Elasticsearch) on Kubernetes running on bare‑metal Packet but struggled with slow failover, manual node‑label management, and fragile stateful recovery. To address these challenges, Lix turned to Portworx, deploying Portworx Enterprise for cloud‑native storage and data management alongside their Kubernetes environment.

Portworx implemented block‑level replication and automated data management so Lix can quickly spin up stateful pods on other nodes during failures, removing manual label toil and accelerating recovery. Portworx enabled container automation without a performance penalty (Lix reports Cassandra performance matching direct‑attached storage), saved engineering time, and increased operational efficiency by automatically handling common server and network failures.
