Beco Leverages Containers to Manage Mobile Data Stream and Advance IoT in Real Estate

Beco, a real-time space analytics and IoT company, was processing large volumes of location data from battery-free beacons and a Mobile SDK using a containerized microservices stack on Mesosphere DC/OS. Their challenge was keeping stateful services like Kafka, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL highly available when DC/OS tended to pin services to a single host and some cloud VM setups prevented attaching external disks. Portworx (PX-Enterprise) was brought in to solve persistent storage and HA for these stateful containers.

Portworx implemented PX-Enterprise to abstract storage hardware, enable containers to float between nodes, and provide block-level synchronous replication across hosts. As a result, Beco achieved high availability for its databases even when a server fails, eliminated node-locked single points of failure, and was able to grow its IoT platform with an easy-to-deploy, easy-to-scale persistent storage solution from Portworx.
