A Portnox Case Study
Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), a global healthcare operator with 165 hospitals, 115 freestanding surgery centers and about 204,000 employees, faced the challenge of centrally managing a complex UK network of over seven hospitals with more than 16,000 physical access ports and 1,000 wireless access points. HCA needed real-time, 100% accurate visibility and automated remediation for a wide mix of devices—from corporate PCs and consultants’ BYOD to IP medical devices like PACS and MRIs—something traditional or 802.1x NAC tools could not reliably deliver, so they selected Portnox.
Portnox deployed a centrally managed, agentless NAC solution using device fingerprinting, native compliance/risk profiling and MDM integration. Within days Portnox proved full illumination and control of the environment, on-boarded networked medical devices with location and VLAN assignment, ensured compliant access for mobile/personal devices, and blocked unknown/rogue devices across wired and wireless access—providing HCA the assured visibility and automated remediation needed to secure its 16,000+ ports and 1,000 WAPs without appliances or agents.
