Datora, a Brazil-based telecom, aimed to expand its services from voice to the high-volume, low-margin IoT and M2M market without investing in entirely new infrastructure. As a long-standing PortaOne customer, the company challenged the vendor to adapt its existing on-premise PortaSwitch and PortaBilling platforms to support this new business model for its new mobile technology unit, Arqia.

PortaOne collaborated with Datora to migrate its operation to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, developing a system capable of handling massive transaction volumes. The solution was customized to support group data plans for IoT SIMs, a new feature added to PortaBilling. This allowed Datora's Arqia unit to successfully support 3 million active IoT devices, processing 2 billion monthly transaction records. The new infrastructure also provides the scalable capacity needed for future growth, with expectations to reach 4 million SIMs and handle over 13,000 concurrent voice calls by the end of 2024.
