A PortalGuard Case Study
Oaks Christian School, a private K–12 school in Westlake Village, CA with about 1,400 students (grades 5–12), needed a way to simplify and secure access to a content- and app-heavy website. Parents and staff were juggling many accounts and there were no parent Active Directory accounts, so the school required a central single sign-on (SSO) with identity federation, stronger security, integration with core apps like Blackbaud/Canvas/G Suite, and a solution that avoided per-user fees and extra AD maintenance.
PortalGuard delivered a scalable authentication platform—SSO, self-service password reset, two-factor authentication, mobile access, app permissions by constituent group, and support for multiple directories plus a custom users table to keep parents out of AD. The deployment integrated key apps, avoided additional licensing and AD upkeep, and produced a successful campus launch with strong post-launch support and a markedly improved single-login experience for parents, students and faculty.
