How Clear Channel Outdoor used Port to reduce developer platform complexity and enable standardization

Clear Channel Outdoor (CCO), a major outdoor advertising company, faced significant developer platform complexity and tool sprawl during its transition from a monolithic to a microservices architecture. This complexity led to increased deploy failures and developer dissatisfaction. To address this, the Engineering Enablement team at CCO implemented an internal developer portal from Port to serve as a consolidation mechanism and improve the developer experience.

Port provided a unified platform that consolidated CCO's CI/CD processes into two customizable blueprints, abstracting deployment complexity and enabling self-service actions for developers. This resulted in 700+ production releases in a year, a stark increase from two per month, and significantly higher quality deployments. Port also served as a single pane of glass for operational visibility, aggregating alerts and system events to reduce noise and ensure incidents were routed to the correct on-call engineers, while an integrated AI assistant reduced recurring support questions.
