West Virginia University Utilizes (Poppulo) Software to Create a Centralized Digital Signage System

West Virginia University, a land-grant institution with more than 28,000 students at its Morgantown campus, needed to update its existing digital signage system. The university wanted more flexibility in template management and scheduling, support for interactivity for donor recognition and hall of fame projects, and a Windows-based content player that could access live SQL databases and keep showing timely information even if internet connectivity was lost.

WVU selected Poppulo’s Content Manager and Content Player software after reviewing other providers. Poppulo helped the university maintain emergency messaging while adding new scheduling and variable-based capabilities, centralized control, and support for user groups to update custom content databases. Since implementing Poppulo in 2013, WVU expanded its network from 80 screens to 140 endpoints, created eight interactive touchscreen experiences and more than 50 templates in three years, and deployed signage for wayfinding, departmental messaging, and interactive donor walls.
