A Poppulo Case Study
Augusta University, a public research university with over 11,000 employees and nearly 10,000 students, faced a campus‑wide communications challenge: a two‑person central communications team had to manage a distributed network of communicators who were sending untargeted emails to as many as 20,000 people. To scale measurable, relevant communications and reduce inbox noise, Augusta University adopted the communications experience platform Poppulo to govern and streamline how messages are created and sent across colleges and the health system.
Using Poppulo’s governance, targeting, templating and training features, the central team restricted mass sends while empowering departmental communicators to deliver personalized, audience‑specific emails; they paired pre‑designed templates with training videos and an intranet FAQ. The result was a higher volume of more relevant messages and a clear boost in engagement — average open rates tripled — enabling Augusta University to reach more students and staff more effectively thanks to Poppulo.
