How the Experian UK&I team increased the impact of their digital messages by streamlining their internal email

Experian UK&I, led by Richard Donovan, faced a noisy internal inbox with no clear email strategy—sending 25–30 company-wide emails a month that diluted important messages. To overhaul communications they adopted Poppulo to target and personalize emails by office, department and title and to audit and streamline content and channels.

Using Poppulo, the team launched a weekly Switched On newsletter, a manager briefing pack, and reserved single emails for must-read messages, consolidating regional newsletters and embedding key content like financial infographics. The result: email volume fell from about 27 to 4–5 messages monthly; two-thirds of employees regularly open Switched On with 20–25% click rates; newsletter opens sit around 60–70% while singular urgent emails often exceed 80% opens; manager packs achieve ~80% opens and 50% reads; Compliance Week emails reached 80% readership—reducing production work and improving message impact.
