Case Study: Stewart Milne achieves stronger employee engagement and a greater sense of belonging with Poppulo's integrated email and mobile platform

A Poppulo Case Study

Creating connections and belonging through times of change

Stewart Milne, a U.K. housebuilder and timber systems manufacturer with about 800 employees, faced a communications challenge: staff were spread across offices, factories and sites and many were non-desk-based with limited access to email or their SharePoint intranet, leaving employees unclear about training, HR and leadership updates—issues amplified by the pandemic. To address this, Stewart Milne chose Poppulo’s integrated communications platform, implementing Poppulo Email and the Poppulo Mobile app to reach employees on the channel of their choice.

Poppulo was rolled out in stages—email first, then the Poppulo Mobile app—using leadership ambassadors and short, visual content (including video) and surveys to drive two-way engagement. The approach eliminated per-text SMS costs, achieved adoption by about one-third of the workforce (growing), increased video viewing and overall engagement, and gave leadership data and real-time feedback to guide communications during restructuring, improving clarity and employees’ sense of belonging.
