A POPin Case Study
On Assignment, a global staffing firm with more than 30 years’ experience and 140 offices worldwide, needed a better way for its central IT team to surface desktop‑environment priorities and consistent user‑experience issues across distributed business units. Kevin Flavin, Director of IT Infrastructure, piloted POPin to run a virtual “town hall” for 152 Oxford Global Resources employees across 26 locations to understand pain points and uncover problems that weren’t on IT’s radar.
In a three‑day POPin session the company captured 60 ideas and about 150 comments, which were distilled into 16 action items; the feedback exposed user workarounds and pressure to relax strict internet controls. As a result On Assignment loosened web‑use policies to support instant messaging, file sharing and other web apps, and employee engagement with IT increased as staff began reaching out through traditional channels after the session.
