A POPin Case Study

IEEE - Customer Case Study

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world’s largest professional association for advancing technology, needed a better way to engage a diverse working group and surface priorities during its Imaging and Visual Quality quarterly meeting in Santa Clara. With 350 representatives from 25 companies, organizers wanted a simple, democratic method to capture ideas, direct questions to specific presenters, and keep feedback private and actionable.

They trialed POPin, an enterprise crowdsourcing platform that lets attendees submit ideas through a shared portal, vote via mobile apps, tag presenters with hashtags, and view POPin Live dashboards projected during the event. The session generated 31 new ideas, 81 votes and comments from 16 users, helped prioritize future topics (such as video metadata for imaging standards), provided managers with real-time reports, and led IEEE to plan additional POPin sessions.
