A Pomeroy Case Study
The customer, the State Department of Transportation, operates Intelligent Transportation Systems across four regional Transportation Management Centers (TMCs) but struggled with disparate, non‑standard legacy networks, limited scalability for thousands of devices, manual data processing, security gaps and no redundancy. The agency engaged Pomeroy for IT infrastructure services (enterprise networking, network security, server & storage, project management) and to deploy advanced Cisco-based technologies (Cisco Prime Infrastructure, UCS Central, APIC, Cisco ASA 5585 firewalls, Cisco ISE) to support its vision for smart highways and connected vehicles.
Pomeroy implemented standardized, scalable core network fabrics, new servers, storage, switches/routers, VRF segmentation, active‑active firewall pairs and centralized management with zero‑touch provisioning to form the foundation for software‑defined WAN and automation. As a result, Pomeroy doubled network performance and availability, increased bandwidth 10x, improved security and redundancy, and reduced Time to Deploy and Mean Time to Repair — creating a repeatable blueprint for statewide expansion and future IoT/SD‑WAN capabilities.
