Major Home Improvement Retailing Company - Customer Case Study

Major Home Improvement Retailing Company, a U.S.-headquartered retailer with over 1,700 big-box stores, needed a rapid, system-wide IT infrastructure upgrade to expand in-store wireless communications and corporate website connectivity. Facing limited internal experience with such a large overhaul, aggressive delivery schedules (compressed from 12 months to 4.5 months), and strict SLAs, the retailer engaged Pomeroy to handle new store IT infrastructure configuration, including servers, telephony, wireless, and Cisco hardware procurement, staging and logistics.

Pomeroy implemented a scalable, repeatable end-to-end process—using its ISO 9001:2008 logistics facility, added second shifts and a 600% staffing increase, dedicated 6,000 sq. ft. for configuration, and established T1 connectivity for remote store imaging—while partnering with Cisco on production and returns. In 4.5 months Pomeroy produced and delivered 3,836 orders with over 195,000 parts to 1,718 stores, achieving 99.7% configuration accuracy, 99.8% on-time delivery and 98.7% asset-recovery attainment, enabling the retailer to deploy a foundational IT platform that boosts customer engagement and associate productivity.
