A Pomeroy Case Study
Leading Supermarket Company, a Fortune 600 grocer operating over 200 stores in the southeastern U.S., faced a looming PCI compliance deadline, limited remote management of POS pin pads, disparate scanner/scale hardware, and the inability to scan barcodes from customer mobile devices or IDs. Pomeroy, the company's long-standing IT partner, was engaged to provide IT infrastructure services, retail technology integration, and managed services to meet compliance, standardization, and remote-management requirements.
Pomeroy deployed 2,500 Zebra MP6000 scanner/scales and upgraded VeriFone Head Quarter (VHQ) remote monitoring across roughly 2,600 pin pad devices, rolling out new scanner/scale and pin pad technology to 221 stores in 4.5 months—one month ahead of plan. The work improved pin pad conversion time from 2 hours to 10 minutes, reduced system-wide POS software deployment from 4 months to 3 weeks, and enabled PCI compliance, enhanced remote management, and mobile/ID barcode scanning for loyalty and age verification.
